A contrast dye (which shows up white on X-rays) is gently passed through the cervix into the uterus. Imaging: As the dye flows, a fluoroscopy machine captures a series of images to track the fluid's movement. shows: If the tubes are open, the dye will spill out at the ends of the fallopian tubes. Blockages or irregular uterine shapes (such as fibroids or adhesions) will also be highlighted
